Can someone explain this Kiriban thing to me? I think I have a rough idea, but I figure at least one of you out there would know exactly what it's all about
It's like the marking of a milestone. Say, if someone captured a screen-shot of your 1,000,000 pageview and sent you the picture, you might give them a hift of some sort. That's basically how it works around dA. But you can pick any number you like. Some people have completely random numbers like 2,649.
If you had a kiriban at 500,000, then someone screencaps the number to prove they were the 500,000th visitor and you draw something for them in return. Or some other sort of gift.
I feel like... It's usually an art-gift to someone who acheived _______, like they were your 10,000 page viewer, or what not, that would be a 10,000 page view kiriban. I'm not entirely sure.
Kiriban is an expression of sacrifice, combining japanese hara-kiri with a deviantart ban. You achieve this by spamming everyone with links to the Kiriban holder's profile page. He will get many pageviews, but the user who spams the links will most likely get banned. There is a regulation on deviantart where admins have to collect proof of the mischief before banning a user. This proof usually is said comment with link to said profile and has to be attached to the ban notification. Upon being banned, the lucky user screenshots the notification, creates a new account and notifies the Kiriban-holder of his achieved deed. He then receives a free sketch. It's rather simple.

Occasionally, it's just a gift created expressly for your entire community of watchers and fans.
