I'm starting to think that the llamas are a bad thing. It's enough that people obsess over their page views and watchers, now it seems they are going to obsess over how many llamas they can collect.
Really, it just makes things competitive. Why do things need to be competitive? The only person an artist should compete with is themselves. One should never actually strive to become better than somebody else.

Eh, it's new. Maybe the novelty will die down :)

I must say, I do rather like my little super albino llama though.

I have two llamas, and I dont care about that fact nor care to have more. One I got from a completely random person who then messaged me asking me to "return the favor." I say this, If a person is a good artist, they get a llama from me. If not, they better have made a good impression on me some other way.

DA was much better before the whole "watchers" and now "llamas" craze. its all about how many you have and people think itll set them above the rest. In the end, itll all be worthless.

Hm, I think it's just a fad. It'll die in a little while. Although they are kind of cute :)

I agree, some people seem a little too exited about the whole thing :/ in all honesty I couldn't care less :) What matters is being succesfull as an artist and enjoying what you do. People who waste time worrying about pageviews and lamas are just full of their own egos :P lol

For me, I don't care either way for them haha, but if someone gives me a llama badge and I know them, I generally give one back, because I'm sure it'll make them happy.

I can think of a few reasons why dA would have done it though. It would mean more activity on their site, and as people go around trying to get more they would come across artists they might not have seen before, which is kinda nice for undiscovered artists I'd think. So long as people don't go around giving the badges without even glancing at the art of course XD

Oh right, another reason dA would have done it is to showcase their new points money-making thingy.

I find them deeply confusing. What are they even for? Imaginary points? never mind you don't have to answer this, I'm just feverish and talking, but er, I bet I agree with you. :p <3 lol

I agree, I think there are some that are taking this llama thing way too far.
Though, with that said, I am having fan giving random deviants llamas. :giggle: What can I say, I'm easily amused.

There's nothing wrong with llamas or pageviews, really -- these things only become a problem for individuals who choose to obsess about them.

I've had a few misgivings myself. But they're fun as long as you don't get too worked up.

The llamas are cute, I'll admit it, but I have only one, and for the most part, I'm okay with that. And even though it does seem like people are getting obsessed over it, it is pretty fun to get one. :)

I think they're silly. This site is supposed to be about sharing your personal art, not competitions or popularity contests. I'd hate to see it take the route of Facebook where everyone sees how many they can get.

I got a random llama from someone the other day. I went to their profile and the only comments were people thanking them for llamas. They didn't even have any art posted! Why would you have an account just for that?

And like many other people who have posted here, I didn't even know they existed until I got one. I'm still not sure what they were originally supposed to signify. Obviously they're just turning into some sort of status symbol thing. Blah. Boo llamas!
